Communities around the world are honoring Men’s Health Month
MASSACHUSETTS, UNITED STATES, June 22, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ – The state of Massachusetts and the cities of Cambridge and Springfield issued a proclamation in June celebrating the health and paternity of men to help men, boys and their families educate about disease prevention, timely checkups, healthy lifestyles and positive family relationships.
You can find the proclamation here.
The importance of these efforts was also highlighted in a White House statement.
Raising awareness of the need for healthy lifestyles for men and boys is critical to their wellbeing. The life expectancy of men is five years shorter than that of women, and men are also more likely to die from cancer, diabetes and heart disease. In addition, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that women are 100% more likely to see their doctor for annual checkups and preventative measures than men.
Testimonials of the state of health for men in each state can be found on the state website for the state of men. City and state proclamations can be found at www.MensHealthMonth.com
“I have declared June in Cambridge Men’s Health Awareness Month to raise awareness of the importance of men’s health to themselves and the well-being of our entire community,” said Mayor Sumbul Siddiqui. “The COVID-19 pandemic has severely affected physical health and severely affected the mental health of men. It is now more important than ever to recognize these effects and to further raise awareness. “
Mayor Domenic J. Sarno of Springfield, Massachusetts said, “The City of Springfield is proud to support and work with the Men’s Health Network in recognizing June as Men’s Health Month. Springfield continues to work with all of our community leaders to raise awareness and educate all of our residents about the importance of taking care of their health and to celebrate the values and importance of preventive health care, a healthy lifestyle, and maintaining positive family relationships. “
“We applaud officials in their states for helping raise awareness of the health concerns of men and their families by recognizing this year’s men’s health awareness phase,” said Ana Fadich, MPH, CHES, vice president of the Men’s Health Network . “Communities around the world continue to promote the health and wellbeing of men and boys throughout June. We hope that this year’s awareness phase will help men and their families to pay more attention to their health after a doctor’s appointment. “
Across the country, hundreds of health professionals, private businesses, religious organizations, community groups, and other interested organizations help plan activities and events that will focus on men’s health in June and year round. On June 18, MHN encourages participants to use the hashtag #ShowUsYourBlue on social media, where participants raised awareness of men’s health problems through Wearing BLUE.
