“Treating a patient in need of a specific drug requires detailed planning and an investment in time and resources to provide adequate diagnosis and treatment,” said Ramy Ayad, Senior Vice-President, Specialty Health, McKesson Canada. “Our goal with today’s announcement is to reduce the administrative burden for medical professionals in areas such as drug access, workflow and communication, so that more time can be used for the most important thing – patient care.”
A strategic partnership with market leading digital capabilities
McKesson Canada, in partnership with leading Canadian technology company Auxita, is expanding modern digital possibilities to simplify patient travel. These solutions and capabilities enable digital connectivity to patient support programs (PSPs), streamline clinical workflow and patient experience to handle the complexities associated with specialty drugs, and provide real-time data on where the patient is on their treatment journey.
The technology facilitates patient-doctor communication and eliminates administrative tasks, resulting in significant program efficiency, improving the patient experience, and reducing the time to receive therapy. The platform will be independent of the electronic medical record (EMR) and will be available to providers who do not have compatible EMRs.
“The Auxita platform is a comprehensive digital ecosystem for healthcare. It delivers actionable insights, evidence-based pathways, simplified registration and seamless communication to improve patient care, ”said Matt Cahill, CEO at Auxita. “We look forward to this partnership making a positive difference in the lives of Canadians as we simplify the healthcare experience.”
A new, simplified patient journey through specialty areas
In contrast to existing solutions on today’s market, the Auxita platform integrates directly into the existing office workflow. It connects seamlessly with EMRs to provide real-time data on where the patient is on their treatment journey.
“As the largest technology initiative in McKesson Canada Specialty Health’s history, the new platform provides intelligent, condition-specific alerts and reminders that help patients begin a treatment plan faster when a prescription is already available, and create patient programs that support better treatment.” Ayad continued.
McKesson Canada expects all digital functions by December 2021. For more information on this initiative, please contact [email protected].
