Publix Produce For Kids Campaign Supports Local Feeding America Member Food Banks With 700,000 Meals

LAKELAND, FL – The Publix Produce for Kids Cause semi-annual marketing campaign concluded on June 16 with 12 production partners delivering 700,000 meals * to the 32 Feeding America member boards in the Publix market area. Redesigned campaign signage, positioned near product partners in more than 1,200 Publix stores, included QR codes that led shoppers to a downloadable eCookbook full of recipe inspiration, details about each partner, and a new section detailing sustainable practices the campaign partners have been announced.

Produce for Kids is celebrating 19 years of working with Publix and its grocery suppliers to deliver the cause marketing campaign that raised more than $ 3.4 million for local families in need. According to Feeding America, 42 million people in the United States could face food insecurity, many of whom live in the company’s seven states.

“At Publix, we understand the importance of helping families achieve their wellness goals through innovative campaigns and programs,” said Dwaine Stevens, Publix Director of Community Relations. “Giving back to our local communities is at the core of our corporate culture and we are proud to partner with the Healthy Family Project for the Produce for Kids campaign.”

This year, a Facebook live cooking class hosted by Amanda Keefer from the Healthy Family Project and two up-and-coming chefs kicked off the campaign with over 12,000 viewers. The class walked viewers through the steps to create a snack board for Memorial Day, and the hosts shared campaign details and publicized the impact of participating product partners.

Publix product suppliers for 2021 included Acosta Sales & Marketing, Ayco Farms, Coast Tropical, Driscoll’s®, Fresh Express®, Litehouse®, Marie’s®, Mission Produce, RealSweet Onions®, SUNSET®, Village Farms and Wonderful®Pistachios.

“We are proud of the impact the Produce for Kids campaign has had on Publix communities over the years,” said John Shuman, founder of the Healthy Family Project and president of Shuman Farms. “This collaboration has not only helped families who are hungry, but also those who have to plan meals for their families each week. It is our mission to help you find new and innovative ways to incorporate fruits and vegetables into every meal. ”

In addition to the signage in stores, product suppliers were highlighted in targeted social media content, including photos and videos, in May and June.

In total, the Publix Produce for Kids program has raised more than $ 3.4 million to local charities and has donated more than 5.7 million meals to Feeding America member boards across Publix’s seven states since 2002.
