Loki is only two episodes in and already has a new character who raises tons of questions. Originally known colloquially as Lady Loki (Sophia di Martino), the mysterious figure may not be what viewers originally thought.
The show’s premise follows Loki (Tom Hiddleston) after he was captured by the Time Variance Authority (TVA), a whole world of pencil pushers and armed task forces committed to keeping the universe on a timeline. Loki teams up with Agent Mobius (played by a white-haired Owen Wilson) to eliminate a variant that is causing trouble on the timeline: a different version of Loki.
But after the variant version of Loki was revealed in the second episode, fans realized that it may not have been a female version of Loki, but a sorceress, a magical character who is also related to the god of mischief.

Who is Sylvie / Enchantress in the comics?
In the comics, Sylvie Ashton is a regular girl from Broxton, Oklahoma. Her life changes irrevocably when the Asgardians decide to make their city their new home. One day she wakes up with magical powers, including sorcery, teleportation, and telekinesis. Ashton adopts the name Enchantress (inspired by the Asgardian Amora) and joins the Young Avengers. Sometimes she even takes on a false Asgardian accent. She eventually discovers that Loki himself has given her powers for no other reason than – you guessed it – causing mischief.

Nothing has been confirmed on the TV show yet, although a fan noticed a possible reference to Sophia di Martino’s character in the international credits of the second episode.

What could Sylvie / Enchantress have in store for Loki and the MCU?
As the series progresses, we need to see what di Martino’s character means for the larger story of Loki and for the future of the MCU. The introduction of Enchantress could mean the MCU delving into the Young Avengers, or maybe there could be a super powerful witch fight between Wanda and Enchantress. She also ended episode 2 which basically set off a series of “time bombs” in the Roxxcart store that may open up the multiverse we’ve heard so much about.
Regardless, there are four more episodes of Loki and much more to reveal. And, uh, there’s always this whole Doctor Strange situation in the Multiverse of Madness coming in 2022, which is certainly an opportunity to keep track of any time-traveling, multiverse-hopping threads Loki might leave open.
