Three health care workers who have shown exceptional efforts in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin to help people through the coronavirus pandemic were honored at the Queen’s Birthday Honors.
Dr. Martin Allen
Dr. Martin Allen, a consultant respiratory doctor from the University Hospitals of North Midlands and a secondary care clinician on the Board of Directors of the NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), has been awarded an MBE in services to the NHS, particularly during COVID. – 19 pandemic.
In addition to his CCG duties, Dr. All nationwide during the NHS response and was one of three doctors to determine correct use of novel drugs to treat COVID-19.
The 64-year-old from Market Drayton has also authored two national NICE guidelines for COVID-19 and co-authored a document examining how hospitals can provide good care during the pandemic.
Today he said: “It is great to be recognized and I am very happy.
“Respiratory medicine was really badly hit during COVID-19, but the respiratory support units helped protect and manage care and were innovative. They also helped support intensive care units. “
Nigel Dugmore
Nigel Dugmore, 59, is a pharmacist with Donnington Pharmacy and has been awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) for service to the pharmacy and community in Donnington during COVID-19.
Nigel said, “I was surprised and delighted to have been honored at the Queen’s Birthday Honors.
“During the lockdown, the pharmacy continued to act seven days a week with normal extended hours, and prescriptions were delivered to around 3,000 patients per week while a local COVID-19 vaccination center was being set up.
“It is a great honor to receive this award, but I accept it on behalf of the fantastic team I work with. I am particularly pleased that Community Pharmacy is so publicly recognized and honored. “
Elsewhere, the League of Friends of the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (RJAH) vice-chair Susan, Lady Trevor, was named MBE in Healthcare Charity Services.

Lady Trevor, who has supported charities for more than 53 years, said, “I am humbled by this honor, it was so very unexpected.
“I hope it can also highlight the work of the wonderful charities I have been involved with, particularly The League of Friends and RJAH, a hospital that is incredibly close to my heart. I am part of a fantastic team and we are very fortunate to have many people working hard to support charities across Shropshire. ”
Mark Brandreth, Executive Lead for the Integrated Health Care System (ICS) for Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin said: “I am delighted that Dr. Allen, Nigel and Lady Trevor were honored at the Queen’s Birthday Honors.
“This is testament not only to their personal work, but also to the work of the teams around them to help everyone in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. Congratulations to all of you. “
