Will you be 65 years old soon? Learn how to enroll in Medicare from the comfort of your home or office. The Hawaii State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) is designed to help you navigate the complexities of Medicare and avoid penalties for late registrations. If you are eligible for Medicare because of a disability, this event is for you too.
During the pandemic, government health insurance assistance programs (SHIPs) provide local, trusted, and unbiased Medicare assistance in a safe and socially detached manner. Hawaii SHIP cooperates with the SHIP National Technical Assistance Center on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Hawaii time at the virtual fair Welcome to Medicare. Participants can take part for as long as they want. Visit www.shiphelp.org for more information, to see the agenda, and to register.
This event is government funded and there is no cost to attend any or all of the virtual fair. There will be general sessions with expert speakers on Medicare eligibility, enrollment, costs and coverage options. The general sessions have subtitles in English and a live transcript in Spanish. The event also features state-specific virtual exhibits and the chance to speak with local staff about how the SHIP program can help with individual questions related to Medicare registration. From your computer or mobile device, join Hawaii time anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Hawaii SHIP is part of the national SHIP network funded by the US Administration for Community Living, Office of Healthcare Information and Counseling. In Hawaii SHIP is called Hawaii SHIP. In other states, SHIP services may be provided under other names such as CHOICES, HICAP, SHINE or an Area Agency on Aging. Regardless of their name, government health insurance assistance programs share a national mission: to empower, educate, and support their families and caregivers through objective contacting, advice and training to make informed health insurance decisions that allow access to care and benefits.
SHIP experts explain who is eligible for Medicare and when, how to enroll for Medicare, and what to do if you’re still working when you are eligible for Medicare. They will also discuss Medicare costs, specifically the importance of avoiding penalties for late registrations. Learn how to navigate your Medicare coverage options and how Medicare works with other insurances such as Employer Insurance, Medigap Supplementary Insurance, and Retiree Insurance.
